Online safety

Through our Computing and Relationship and Health Education (RHE) planned curriculum, we already teach online safety every year in each year group. However, we recognise that this area of learning needs to be regularly revisited in order to keep children’s awareness high. We also recognise that technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace and that children are engaging with a range of devices at a younger age.

In response to this and the national developments such as the Online Safety Act, this year we have launched ‘Tech Tuesday’. Every week on a Tuesday, children will engage in learning and discussions focused on one area of online safety. This learning has been informed by Education for a Connected World. After our weekly discussions, information is then communicated to parents with any supporting resources that we may have used in school so that parents can revisit or continue the conversation at home.

We also signpost parents to relevant websites and information that we hope will be of use too. Furthermore, we have teamed up to Knowsley CLC in order to provide parents with helpful guides and monthly newsletters. We hope that this will enable school and parents to work in partnership to support our children in the development of their positive online habits.
