Reception's Community Art Gallery

This week, Year R hosted their art gallery at St John’s Church's Pearson Hall.

One of the children’s aspirations for the year was to create an event for the community where they could showcase their art learning as well as their cooking skills. The art gallery included their early colour mixing skills inspired by Mondrian and their final paintings inspired by Monet and their recent walk to a garden in Alresford.

Other art works on display were the children’s clay eggs and clay ducklings that demonstrated their rolling, cutting, impressing and glazing skills as well as their teddy bear drawings. The children used their sketch books to talk to their grown ups about their art learning throughout the year.

As a delicious treat, the children had also baked their own scones and these were enjoyed by adults and children alike. The whole event was a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the children’s first year at our school… and what a brilliant year they have had.
